Outdoor Firewood Racks Save Your Firewood

Outdoor Firewood Rack

After you take the time to prepare and cut your firewood for the cold months of winter, you’ll need to store it properly to keep it dry.  Stacking firewood on the ground next to a shed or garage is a common approach to storing firewood all winter, but moisture, termites, and other insects can easily damage the wood, spoiling your hard work and reducing the amount of usable firewood you have.  The best solution is to use an Outdoor Firewood Rack.  These sturdy racks keep firewood raised off of the ground, away from moisture and insects.  Plus, raised outdoor firewood racks help firewood dry for easier and safer burning.  A variety of sizes are available to meet each home owner’s individual firewood needs.

Storage Sheds: The Benefits of Cedar

Rancher Cedar Storage Shed

Outdoor storage sheds may be available in a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, and vinyl, but I prefer a storage shed made out of wood — specifically, Western Red Cedar.   Have you ever opened a cedar trunk or stepped into a clothes closet lined with cedar?  Not only is cedar beautiful, it smells fantastic.  The same goes for an outdoor storage shed.  On the other hand, when I walk into my own storage shed, constructed of metal, I detect only the fragrance of gas from the lawnmower and essence of yard chemicals.   It is the last place I want to be.

Even though the sensual aspects of cedar may be the first that we notice, the practical advantages of cedar abound, especially when used for storage sheds and other outdoor furniture.  Cedar offers outstanding insulation, is easy to work with, and contains natural preservatives that make it resistant to insect damage, decay, and harsh weather conditions.  It truly is an all-weather material; it can take the heat of the summer as well as the icy cold of winter, and just about every condition in between.

Because of cedar’s attractive features and benefits, an outdoor shed made of cedar can serve as more than just a place for storage.  You just might want to spend more time in the shed planning gardening projects or working on a hobby.  Some friends I know don’t use their cedar storage shed for storage at all, but for a comfortable and creative play house for their children.

Metal, plastic, and vinyl storage sheds can’t possibly offer the same array of benefits and possibilities as cedar wood sheds.  While fine for basic storage, they lack the charm, beauty, and versatility of a cedar storage shed…and they definitely don’t smell as delicious.

Do You Have Something To Hide?

Or better yet…need to hide something……..Here is a solution.

These Rock Enclosures are perfect for covering any unsightly items in your yard like sprinkler systems, pest control units, electrical transformers, pump systems, and well/septic systems. These top quality rock enclosures are made with an all-new textured material called RealRock™. The gritty, tough, and variegated rock-like surface is astonshingly realistic, and blends in with other natural textures.

With Realrock™, not only does the enclosure look incredibly real, but it will last for many years in virtually any climate. The commercial grade construction stands up to the elements and since the color and texture is part of the material, not painted on, you will enjoy these completely realistc looking enclosures for many, many seasons.

On With My New Year’s Resolution – Getting Organized!

Me...Happy and Organized!

I want to share with you one of my very favorite quotes……. “You cannot change anything in your life with intention alone, which can become a watered-down, occasional hope that you’ll get to tomorrow. Intention without action is useless.”  I’ve been thinking about this thought today as I plan to somehow solve all the world’s problems ( and mine) before midnight tonight.

I am confident, just as I am every year about this time that this coming year is going to be “my year”.  I will hold on to that thought, however, as I have shared previously, my resolution this time is going to actually be achieveable……GETTING ORGANIZED! I have previously discussed how I have been organizing my closets in my house 1 by 1…well, now I am moving on outside.  My next challenge is doing something with all that STUFF I have in my backyard. I am one of the fortunate one’s without a garage, but a carport in its place.  I don’t really mind it, but it does somewhat challenge me in the “clutter” category.

Surfing the web, I have read much instructing me to concentrate and reflect on the “WHY” this resolution means so much to me, even suggesting I spend days reflecting and visioning how “organizing” will change my life.  Let’s get serious, PLEASE, Just do it…like my quote implies..thinking and pondering are not the same as doing!

So, My first step was to find this great storage shed that fits everything I need to put away in it. This is what it looks like …

It even fits up against the carport and looks like it is part of the original house.  I am considering painting it to match my exterior paint. I am going to put all my garden tools, garden equipment, bikes, summer toys, and pool equipment in it.

I must say with all this organizing, I do feel like I am regaining control in some strange little way.  Maybe 2009 IS going to be my year.  In reclaiming control of my clutter….I think I am reclaiming control of my life.
